Yoga

(Virtual & In-Person)
What is it?

Yoga is a practice that originated in ancient India. The first verse of the
Yoga Sutras by Patanjali, “Atha Yoganusasanam,” translates to “Now the
exposition of yoga is being made.” While many associate yoga with physical
practices aimed at stretching and stress reduction, these are only a small
part of the larger discipline. The primary goal of yoga is to gain complete
mastery over the mind, making it a science of the mind. The term “yoga”
traditionally refers to Raja Yoga, the mental science, which is often
described as “union.” It involves a combination of physical postures
(asanas), breath control (pranayama), meditation, and ethical principles.

How is it going to benefit me?

The practice of yoga has been linked to various benefits, including
improving strength, flexibility, balance, and posture. It can also help
reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation and better sleep, and improve
overall physical and mental well-being. Additionally, yoga has been shown
to lower blood pressure, improve heart health, and boost the immune system.
Practicing yoga may also aid in the management of chronic conditions such
as back pain, arthritis, and depression. Furthermore, yoga may help
individuals cultivate mindfulness, self-awareness, and compassion towards
themselves and others. Overall, regular practice of yoga can contribute to
a healthier and more fulfilling life Period at the end.
